Do you love mowing your lawn? Is making sure your lawn is clean, green and well-manicured your idea of a perfect warm summer day?
If so, then you’ve probably looked lovingly at those major league ball fields with the perfect grass-cutting lines.
Think you can’t achieve this kind of lawn-mowing symmetry in your yard? Think again.
There are ways to cut the grass and get those perfect lawn lines. You just need to know the tricks of the trade.
There are actually special lawn mowers on the market that will help achieve this dream. These mowers have full-width rollers and free-floating mower decks. However, rotary lawn mowers and cylinder lawn mower can also achieve this effect.
You will need to follow a systematic pattern of mowing. The lawn mower must only move forward when creating lawn strips. It is the direction of the mower that makes the grass sit up in different directions and create the striped effect. It’s also important that when you mow, you make sure that the current stripe slightly overlaps the previous stripe so that you do not leave thin cuts of uncut grass between the stripes. This will be unsightly. Nobody wants an unsightly lawn.
After you decide which way your stripes are going, cut along the edge of the lawn at right angles, then back across the lawn to make sure the stripes slightly overlap.
Next, turn the mower 90 degrees and create your first permanent stripe by going down the edge of the lawn in the direction you want the stripes to go. Repeat this process at the other end of the lawn.
This should help give you those clean, sharp lawn-cutting lines.
Don’t let the rest of your lawn work suffer. Your lawn will still need regular watering to achieve and keep that green look.
